ThreatMon Cyber Threat Intelligence team, using advanced FTI (Fraud Threat Intelligence) and PTI (Pentest Threat Intelligence) capabilities, has successfully solved a sophisticated fraud scheme running through Facebook Marketplace.
This operation exposed a planned fraud network that directed users to a second-hand goods sales site via bot messages. The attackers employed a remarkable form of social engineering, using a phishing-orientated site to compromise user information. The analytical skills of ThreatMon’s Cyber Threat Intelligence teams uncovered this activity through a deep investigation of the scam and identified a network where more than 1600 victims were scammed in this way.
